"An armed security officer means a natural person employed to safeguard and protect persons and property or deter theft, loss, or concealment of any tangible or intangible personal property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who carries or has access to a firearm in the performance of his duties."

The three courses below are the baseline minimum a student must complete to obtain armed security licensure in Virginia.

01E Unarmed Security Entry level - 
This is an 18 hour course (excluding practical exercises and final exam)

05E Arrest Authority -
This is an 8 hour course (excluding practical exercises and final exam)

075E Armed Security Officer Handgun - 
This is an 24 hour course (excluding practical exercises and final exam)

Eligibility Requirements

Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Successful completion of all initial training requirements for each registration category, including firearms endorsement if applicable.
Be a United States citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
